Preparing for surround sound
If you selected other than "LARGE" as the center speaker
setting,

Wherl the setting "SURR OFF" IS selected, the procedure skips
to step 0
0 Press the A key or Joystick (~1 again to accept the setting.

The surround speaker settrng rndrcatron "SB" appears
@ Use the MULTI CONTROL knob or Joystick (A/V) to select
appropriate surround back speaker setting.
If you selected "LARGE" as the surround speaker setting,

1 SB NORMAL : Average size surround back speaker IS
connected to the recerver
2 SB LARGE : Largesurround backspeakerrsconnected
to the receiver

SBOFF : Surround back speaker setting mode to
the recerver IS OFF

Adjust the speaker volume level.
From your usual listenrng posrtion, adjust the volume levels. The
volume levels from each speaker should be the same.
0 Press the A/V keys or Joystick I+/,) to select TEST TONE.
0 Press the SETUP key for the following displays:

1 T.TONE AUTO
2 T.TONE MANUAL
0 The selection of AUTO/MANUAL TEST TONE is done by the
MULTI CONTROL knob or Joystick (r/V).
Press the SETUP key again to begin TEST TONE.
Use the MULTI CONTROL knob or Joystick (A/VI to adjust
the volume level of the test tone output from the speaker
channel to be adjusted.
For AUTO selection, the first test tone is heard from the front
left speaker for 2.5 seconds. The next test tone is heard from
the speakers in the following sequence for 2 seconds each.
+ LEFT - CNTR - RIGHT
SUBW- SL- SB- SRI
The channel rndrcatron blinks while the test tone IS being output.
If you selected "NORMAL" as the surround speaker setting,

Input the distance to the speakers.
0 Press the A/V keys or Joystick (4~) to select the SP
DISTANCE on setup displays and press the SETUP key again.
0 Measure the distance from the listening position to each of
the speakers.
Jot down the distance to each of the speakers.
