For vehicles with the EASY-PACK tailgate
you can:
close the tailgate manually from outside
R
open and close the tailgate automatically
R
from outside
open and close the tailgate automatically
R
from inside
unlock the tailgate from inside with the
R
emergency release
limit the opening angle of the tailgate
R
Tailgate reversing feature
The tailgate is equipped with an automatic
reversing feature. It reacts if a solid object
obstructs or restricts the tailgate during the
closing procedure. The tailgate opens again
automatically. The automatic reversing
feature is only an aid and is not a substitute
for your attention when closing the tailgate.

WARNING
The reversing feature does not react:
to soft, light and thin objects, e.g. small
R
fingers
over the last 1/3 in (8 mm) of the closing
R
movement
This means that the reversing feature cannot
prevent someone being trapped in these
situations. There is a risk of injury.
Make sure that no body parts are in close
proximity during the closing procedure.
If somebody becomes trapped:
press the F button on the SmartKey, or
R
press the remote operating switch on the
R
driver's door, or
press the closing or locking button on the
R
tailgate, or
pull the handle on the tailgate
R
Opening/closing manually from
outside
Opening
Press the % button on the SmartKey.

Pull handle :.

Raise the tailgate.
X
Vehicles with the EASY-PACK tailgate: if
you pull handle : and then release it, the
tailgate opens automatically.
Closing
Pull the tailgate down using recess :.

Allow the tailgate to drop into the lock.
X
Lock the vehicle if necessary with
X
the & button on the SmartKey or with
KEYLESS-GO.

If a KEYLESS-GO key is detected in the
cargo compartment, the tailgate will not
lock.
