Suspend to Disk
The active data can only be saved if sufficient space is available on the hard disk (at least the main
memory size + 2 Mbytes). If the operating system Windows NT or OS/2 Warp is used, a FAT
partition with this space must be created as a drive on the hard disk (see manual for respective
operating system).
Closed cover switch
When you close the LCD display, the notebook switches into Standby mode. Opening the LCD
display panel ends the Standby mode.
Set the value Enabled for the Lid Closure Suspend parameter in the BIOS Setup if you want to use this
function. This function is deactivated with the Disabled setting.
Ending Suspend mode
Ê
Switch the notebook on.

Press the Suspend/Resume button.
The notebook reverts to the status it had prior to switching into Suspend mode.

Idle mode

When the Idle mode is activated, the processing speed of the processor is reduced when your
notebook is inactive for a short time. Any activity automatically returns the notebook to normal
operation.
This function is independent of the Standby mode. The Idle mode can be activated and deactivated
via the Power Savings menu of the BIOS Setup.

Video timeout

With this mode you switch off the LCD screen after a defined time period when no activity with the
keyboard or the pointing device, or any other input or output activity takes place.
This parameter is set in the Power Savings menu of the BIOS Setup. Any keyboard or pointing device
activity automatically leads to a reactivation of the screen.
This function is independent of the Standby mode.

Hard Disk timeout

With this mode the motor of the hard disk drive is switched off as soon as no activity with the
keyboard or the pointing device, or any other input or output activity takes place for a time period
defined in the BIOS Setup.
This parameter is set in the Power Savings menu in the BIOS Setup. When the hard disk is accessed,
the motor of the hard disk drive is automatically switched on again. This function is independent of
the Standby mode.
