Establishing an infrared connection

Using the infrared software of Windows 98 you can communicate with another PC or printer
equipped with an infrared interface.
The infrared software can be activated with Start - Settings - Control Panel ; it then appears as a
symbol at the bottom right in the task bar.
Ê
Click on the infrared symbol at the bottom right in the task bar with the right mouse button.
Ê
Click on Open and then on Enable infra-red comm.
Ê
Click on Apply and confirm with OK.
Before you can establish an infrared connection, you must have activated the infrared
i
software in Windows 98. Additional information on the infrared interface is contained in the
Windows help in the Start menu under the topic "Infrared".
Configuring the infrared connection
Your notebook has been preset to the Fast IrDA Mode (only for Windows 98). If you want to change
the settings, for example to communicate with a system that is not running Windows 98, you can
change the setting in the Advanced menu of the BIOS Setup.
The setting can be changed to IrDA Mode. Please note that IrDA Mode is the slower setting, which
was generally used on older computers.
