5-1. Routine Maintenance

Replace
unreadable
labels.
Clean and
tighten weld
connections.
6 Months
Blow out or
vacuum inside.
During heavy service,
clean monthly.

5-2. Adjusting Spark Gap

Y Disconnect power before maintaining.
Repair or
replace cracked
weld cables.
Or
Tools Needed:
0.012 in (0.3 mm)
Adjust
spark
gaps.
Replace
cracked
parts.

Y Turn Off power before ad-
justing spark gap.

Tungsten End Of Point
Replace point if tungsten end dis-
appears; do not clean or dress
tungsten.

Spark Gap
Normal spark gap is 0.012 in (0.3
mm). If adjustment is needed, pro-
ceed as follows:

Adjustment Screw
Loosen screw. Place gauge of
proper thickness in spark gap.

Pressure Point
Apply slight pressure at point until
gauge is held firmly in gap. Tighten
screw. Replace wrapper.
