[] PROVIDE ADEQUATE
GAS SUPPLY
Your range is designed to operate at a pressure of 4" of
water colmnn on natural gas or, if designed for LP gas
(propane or butane), 10" of water column.
Make sure }_,u ;ire supplying your range with the type of
gas ib_ whid_ it is designed.
This range is convertible tor use on natural or propane
gas. If you dedde to use this range on LP gas, c(mvel_ion
Fnust be made by a qualified I.P installer before
attempting to operate tile range on that gas.
For proper operation, tile pressure ot natural gas
supplied to tile regulator must be between 4" and 13"
o_ W_ffer cohlI//n.
For I,P gas, tile pressure supplied must be between 10"
and 13" ot water column.
When checking tbr proper operation of tile regtdato_;
tile inlet pressure must be at least 1" greater than tile
operating (inanitbkl) pressure as given above.
Tile pressure regulator located at the inlet of tile r:mge
manilold must remain ill the supply line regardless ot
whether natural or I,P gas is being used.
A fle_ble metal appliance connector used to connect tile
range to the gas supply line shoukl have an I.D. of 1/2"
and be 5 teet in length tbr ease of installation. In Canada,
fle_ble connectol_ I/ltlst be single wall metal connecto,_
no hmger than 6 feet in length.
[] CONNECT THE RANGE TO GAS
Shut off the main gas supply valve before disconnecting
the old range and leave it off until the new hookup has
been completed. Don't forget to relight the pilot on other
gas appliances when you turn the gas back on.
Because hard piping restricts movement of tile range,
tile use (ff a CSA International-certified flexible metal
appliance connector is recommended unless local codes
require a hard-piped connection.
Never use all oM com_ector when installing a new range.
If tile hard piping method is used, you must carefiflly
align tile pipe; the range cannot be mored after tile
connection is I//;ide.
To pre\ ent gas leaks, put pipe joint compotmd on, or
wrap pipe thread rope with Teflon* around, all male
(external) pipe threads.
A. Install a manual gas line shut-off _;dve ill tile gas lille ill
an easily accessed location (_utside (ff tile range. Make
sure everyone operating tile range kno_vs where and
how to shut off the gas supply to tile range.
B. Install male 1/2" flare union adapter to tile 1/2" NPT
internal thread at inlet of regulatol; Use a backup
wrench on tile regulator fitting to avoid damage.
When installing the iange ti'oln the ti'ont, relnove the
90 ° elbow ti)I" easier installation.
C. Install inale 1/2" or 3/4" flare tmion adapter to tile
NPT internal thread of the malmal shut-off \ulve,
taking care to back-up tile shut-off ;ulve to kee I) it
fl'oln mrlfing.
D. Colmect flexible inetal appliance colmector to the
adapter on tile range. Position range to pemfit
COlmection at tile sh m-off wdve.
E. X_q/en all colmecfions have been made, inake sure
all range controls are in the off position and turn on
the main gas supply \ulve. Use a liquid leak detector
at all joints and connections to check tor leaks in
the system,
When using test pressm'es greater than l/2 psig to
pressure test the gas supply s):steln of the residence,
disconnect the range and individual shut-off wdve
WARNING:
oo NOT USE A FLAME
TO CHECK FOR GAS LEAKS.
fl'om tile gas supply piping. When using test pressures
of 1/2 psig or less to test tile gas supply systeln, silnply
isolate the range fl'om the gas supply systeln by closing
the individual shut-off' wdve.
