STEP 8 Install the door bracket
Fiberglass,aluminumor lightweightsteelgarage doorsWILLREQUIREreinforcement B EFORE
installationof doorbracket.Contactyourdoor manufacturerfor reinforcement k it.
Figure 1showsonepiece ofangle ironasthe horizontalbrace.Fortheverticalbrace,2 piecesof angle
iron are usedto createa U-shapedsupport.The bestsolutionis to checkwithyour garagedoor
manufacturer f or anopener installationdoor reinforcement k it.
NOTE: Many door reinforcement k itsprovide for directattachment o f theclevispin and door arm.In this
caseyou will notneed thedoor bracket;proceed to thenextstep.
A horizontal and vortical reinforeementis needed for
ligNweigbt garage doors (fiberglass, ataminnm, steel,
doors with glass panel, otc.) (not provided).
A horizontal reinforcement brace should be long
enongb to be sennrod to two or three vortical supports.
A vertical reinforcement brace shonld cover fhe heigN
of fho fop panel.

SECTIONAL DOORS
1. Centerthedoor bracketon thepreviouslymarkedverticalcenterlineused for the header
bracketinstallation.NotecorrectUP placement, a s stampedinside thebracket.
2. Positionthe topedge ofthe bracket2"-4" (5-10cm)belowthe top edgeofthe door, OR
directlybelowany structuralsupportacrossthe top ofthe door.
3. Mark,drill holesand installasfollows,dependingon yourdoor'sconstruction:
Metalor light weightdoorsusing a verticalangle iron bracebetween thedoorpanelsupport
andthedoorbracket:
• Drill 3/16"fasteningholes.Secure the doorbracketusingthe twoselfthreadingscrews.

• Alternately,usetwo 5/16" bolts,lockwashersand nuts (notprovided).(Figure3)
Metal,insulated or light weightfactory reinforced doors:
• Drill 3/16"fasteningholes.Secure the doorbracketusingthe self-threading screws.
(Figure 4)
Wood Doors:
• Usetop and bottomor side to sidedoor bracketholes.Drill 5/16" holesthroughthedoor and
securebracketwith5/16"x2"carriagebolts,lockwashersand nuts(not provided).(Figure5)
NOTE: The !/4 "-! 4xS/8"self-threadingscrewsare not intendedfor use on wooddoors.
