Error messages

This unit is provided with a self-diagnostic function that
detects internal abnormalities. When it detects an
abnormality, it outputs an error message to the monitor
screen and indicates an error code in the time counter
display.
Note
To display error messages on the monitor screen, connect
the monitor to the (SUPER) CPST connector, and set the
CHARA. DISPLAY menu item (see page 77) to ON
(factory default setting).

Error code classification
0X-XXX Appears when a servo or tape transport related
error is detected
02- XXX Fault in tape or reel etc.
06- XXX Fault in tension
07- XXX Fault in capstan
08- XXX Fault in drum
09- XXX Fault in loading
2X-XXX Appears when a mechanical control error is
detected
20-XXX Fault in cassette compartment
21-XXX Fault in reel shift
22-XXX Fault in head cleaner
3X-XXX Appears when a sensor fault is detected
9X-XXX Appears when an error is detected in the CPU
peripheral system or IC control communications
When an error message appears, follow the instructions on
the monitor screen for resolving the problem.
When an error message persists, contact your Sony dealer
or a Sony service representative.
