Drum Cartridge

The drum cartridge consists of a photosensitive drum (drum), an intermediate transfer belt,
and a waste toner box. An electric charge is first projected to the drum and develops a print
image on the drum's surface. For information on when and how to replace the drum
cartridge, refer to "Life of Consumables and Regular Replacement Parts" (P. 218) and
"Replacing the Drum Cartridge" (P. 168).

Fuser Unit

The fuser unit is a component in the printer that uses heat and pressure to fuse toner onto
paper. The fuser unit becomes very hot when the printer is in use, so do not touch it.
When the fuser unit is near the end of its life, the [Replace soon] message appears on the
control panel. After approximately 60,000 (A4 landscape) prints, another message,
[Replace], appears and the printer shuts down. Make sure to have a new fuser unit ready
before the printer shuts down.
For information on how to replace the fuser unit, refer to the installation guide included in
the package.
