To be able to enter voice
commands in English, you first
need to activate the phone main
menu by pressing the PHONE
button on the Infotainment system,
and then activate the speech
recognition of the phone portal by
pressing the button w on the
steering wheel.
■ Speech recognition of the
navigation system: if the currently
selected language for the display is
not supported by the speech
recognition, speech recognition will
not be available.
In such a case you need to select
another language for the display if
you want to control the Infotainment
system via voice commands:
Press the CONFIG button, select
the Languages menu item and then
select, e.g, English.
As the English language is one of
the languages supported by the
speech recognition of the
navigation system, speech
recognition will then be available.
Note
If you change the language shown
on the Infotainment system's
display, all names currently
assigned to preset stations and/or
destination addresses will be
deleted.
Navigation control
General information
The speech recognition of the
navigation system (only Navi 900;
inclusive audio system features) only
works if a map SD card with speech
recognition data is inserted 3 94.
Navigation-related voice commands
are not available until the initial
disclaimer message has been
confirmed.
Activating speech recognition
Press the button w on the steering
wheel.
The audio system mutes, a voice
output message prompts you to say
a command, and a help menu with the
Speech recognition
most important commands currently
available is shown on the display, see
"Help menus" further below.
As soon as the speech recognition is
ready for voice input, a beep is heard
and the red coloured symbol in the
upper right corner of the help menu
changes to grey colour.
You can now say a voice command to
directly initiate a system function (like
playing a preset radio station), or to
start a dialogue sequence with
several dialogue steps (like entering
a destination address), see
"Operation via voice commands"
further below.
After a dialogue sequence is finished,
the speech recognition is deactivated
automatically. To initiate another
dialogue sequence, you need to
activate the speech recognition
again.
Adjusting the volume for voice
output messages
Turn the volume knob on the
Infotainment system, or press the + or
― button on the steering wheel.
