Fold up the hem and fold it back to from a 0.4 to
0.7cm (1/4") allowance as illustrated.

Wrong side of the fabric

[A] Heavy weight fabrics
[B] Light or medium weight fabrics

Position the fabric so that the needle just pierces the
edge of the fold when the needle swings to the
extreme left.
Lower the presser foot.
c
Turn the guide screw to adjust the guide aligning with
the folded edge.
Sew along the folded edge guiding the fabric so the
needle catches the folded edge.

* If the needle drops far to the left of the fold, the stitches
will show on the right side of the fabric.
