Monitoring Hardware Components
To create a command file that will automate system monitoring, enter this into an EDIT
file:
COMMENT
THIS IS THE FILE SYSCHK
COMMENT
THIS CHECKS ALL DISKS:
SCF STATUS DISK $*
COMMENT
THIS CHECKS ALL TAPE DRIVES:
SCF STATUS TAPE $*
COMMENT
THIS CHECKS THE SPOOLER COLLECTOR PROCESSES:
SPOOLCOM COLLECT
COMMENT
THIS CHECKS THE LINE HANDLERS:
SCF STATUS LINE $*
COMMENT
THIS CHECKS THE STATUS OF TMF:
TMFCOM;STATUS TMF
COMMENT
THIS CHECKS THE STATUS OF PATHWAY:
PATHCOM $ZVPT;STATUS PATHWAY;STATUS PATHMON
After you create this file, enter this at your TACL prompt:
> OBEY SYSCHK
See the example below for an illustration of the display that is sent to your home
terminal when you execute this command file.
Example
To execute the command file SYSCHK to automatically monitor many elements of your
system discussed in this section, enter:
> OBEY SYSCHK
