Tape Speed
Recording
A tape can be recorded at two different speeds:
SP (Standard
Play recorded at 33.4 mm/sec.) and SLP
(Super Long Play recorded at 11.1 mm/sec.).
The SLP speed is more economical
than SP because the
available recording time is three times longer.
However, tapes recorded at SP speed have better
playback quality than ones recorded at SLP speed.

Playback
There are three possible speeds for playback:
SP, LP (Long Play recorded at 22.2 mm/sec.),
and SLP.
The appropriate
speed is automatically
selected by the
VCR.
