cycle.

Theself-cleancycleusesabovenormal c ook-
ing temperaturesto automaticallycleanthe
entireoven interior.
It is normalforexcessiveflare-ups,smoking
and flaming to occur during cleaning if the
oven isheavilysoiled.It is bettertocleanthe
oven regularlyratherthan to wait untilthere
is a heavybuild-upof soil in the oven.
During the cleaning process, the kitchen
should be well ventilated to help eliminate
normalodorsassociatedwith cleaning.
BEFORESELF-CLEANING
Turnoff theovenlight beforecteaningasthe
lightmay burn out duringthe cleancycle.
Removebroilerpan, all pans and the oven
racksfrom the oven. The oven racks will
discolorand may not slide easily after a
self.cleancycle.
Cleanovenframe, doorframe (areaoutside
the door gasket)and aroundthe opening in
the door gasketwith a nonabrasive cleaning
agent such as Bon Am!* er detergent and
water.Theseareasare notexposedto clean-
ing temperatures

should
be
cleaned to prevent
soil from baking on
during the clean
cycle.
To prevent damage, do not clean or rub
thegasket around the oven door.The gas-
ket is designed to seal in heat during the
cleancycle.
Wipe up excess grease or spilloversfrom the
oven bottom to prevent excessive smoking,
flare.upsor flamingduring the cleancycle. For
ease of cleaning, the heating elementcan be
lifted slightly (1 inch).
Wipe up sugary and acid spillovers such as
sweet potatoes,tomatoor milk-basedsauces.
Porcelain enamel is acid resistant, not acid
proof. The porcelain finish may discolor ff
acidicspillsare not wiped up prior to a self.
clean cycle.
DURINGCLEAN CYCLE
When the LOCKindicatorlights in the display,
the doorcannotbe opened.Topreventdamage
to door,do not forcedoor openwhenthe LOCK
lightis illuminated.
Somesmokeand odormay bedetectedthefirst
few times the oven is cleaned. This is normal
and will lessenin time.Smokemayalsooccur if
oven is heavilysoiledor ifbroiler panwas left in
oven.
As oven heats,you may hear sounds of metal
partsexpandingandcontracting.This is normal
and will not damageoven.
AFTERSELF-CLEANING
About one hour after the end of the clean
cycle, the LOCKindicatorlight will turnoff.
At thispoint, the door can be opened.
Somesoil may leavea light gray, powderyash
whichcan be removedwitha dampcloth,If soil
remains,it indicatesthat the clean cycle was
not long enough.The soil will be removeddur-
ing the next clean cycle.
if the oven racks were left in the oven and do
notslidesmoothlyafteracleancycle,wiperacks
and embossed rack supports with a small
amountofvegetableoilto restoreeaseof move-
ment.
A white discolorationmay appear after clean-
ing if acidic or sugaryfoods were notwiped up
beforethe cleancycle,Thisdiscolorationis nor-
mal and will NOTaffect performance.
Finelinesmay appearin the porcelainresulting
from the heatingand coolingof the finish. This
is normaland will not affect performance.
SETTINGTHE CONTROLSFOR
SELF-CLEAN
NOTE: These instructionscover automatic
lock and manuallock models.
1. Close the oven door.
Move the door lock lever right to the
locked position (selectmodels).

3. Press theClean pad.
> The CLEAN indicator o n the Clean
pad will flash.
The LOCK indicatorwill light on
modelswith automaticlock feature
and .....
or 3:00will light in
display dependingon your model.
If the door is not closed or locked,
"d¢'wi!lappear in the display.
4. Press More+ or Less- pad to select
clean time or change clean time. The
ovenwillautomatically cleanfor 3 hours
or, select 2 hoursfor light soil up to 4
hoursfor heavy soil,
5. IFYOUWiSHTO DELAYTHE START
OF CLEANING (if not, skip to #6):
> Pressthe Stop Time pad,
> PressMore+ pad to selectthe time
of dayyouwishtheovento turn off.
>- PressClock pad and time of day
will reappearin the display. Press
the Stop Time pad to recallthe
time you set.
6. When the oven turns on:
> The OVENON indicatorwill light.
> The LOCK indicatorwill light when
ovenheatsto400° Fon modelswith
a manualdoor lock. The door can-
notbe openedwhen LOCKindica-
tor is lit.
7, About one hour after the clean cycle
ends, the LOCK indicatorwill turn off
and the ovendoor can be opened (se-
lect models-movedoorlock levertothe
left to unlock).
TO CANCELCLEAN CYCLE:
Pressthe CANCELpad.If the LOCKindi-
catoris NOTlit, unlock(selectmodels)and
opentheovendoer.If theLOCKindicatoris
lit, allowoven to cool about one hour then
unlock(selectmodels)andopenovendoor.
