SECTION 3: ASSEMBLY & OPERATION
Before Assembly
NOTE: References to LEFT, RIGHT, FRONT and
REAR of the tractor are from the operator's position.
Identify loose parts according to Figure 1.
Identify items of hardware pack following Figure 2.
Place the tractor on a firm and level surface,
disengage PTO, stop engine and set parking brake.
Wait for the engine to cool down before proceeding
with assembly of the bagger.
Tools Required
1. Socket and adjustable wrenches or wrenches of
the following sizes: 1/2, 3/4, 7/16, 9/16, 15/16 and
3/8 inch.
2. Torque wrench
Attaching Blades and Deck Baffle
WARNING:
Always protect your hands while
servicing blades by wearing heavy work gloves
or using heavy rags.
NOTE: Three high-lift bagging blades are included in
the grasscatcher kit. Replace the blades with these new
blades and save the existing blades as replacements or
to reinstall on the blade spindles when not using the
bagger kit.
Remove cutting deck from beneath the tractor
following instructions for Deck Removal in operator's
manual of the tractor. Gently flip the deck over to
expose its underside.
Place a block of wood between the center deck
housing baffle and the cutting blade to act as a
stabilizer. See Figure 3.
Use a 15/16" wrench to remove the hex flange nut
that secures the left and right blade to the blade
spindle assemblies. See Figure 3.

NOTE: Save the three blades you just removed to use
as replacements or to reinstall on the blade spindles
when not using the bagger kit.

WARNING:
The hex flange nut has a right-
handed thread pattern. Do not attempt to force
the nut in wrong direction; it may damage the
nut and create a safety hazard.
Place a new blade on each spindle so that side of
the blade with part number faces the ground when
the mower is in the operating position.
Secure with the hex flange nut removed earlier.
Use a torque wrench to tighten the hex flange nut
between 70 to 90 foot-pounds.
Move the wood block to either the left or right blade
for stabilization and remove and replace the center
blade so that side of the blade with part number
faces the ground when the mower is in the
operating position.
Attach the deflector included with the loose parts
using the hardware pack F. Discard the screws that
you had just removed. See Figure 4.

Remount the cutting deck to the tractor.
WARNING:
Make sure the engine and
muffler of the tractor have cooled down
completely before attaching these brackets.
Place one of the two mounting brackets on the left
side of the tractor frame aligning the large hole in
the center of the bracket. See Figure 5.
On tractor model-year 2006, secure mounting
brackets with clevis pin and cotter pin from
hardware pack Group A1. See Figure 5.
On tractor model-year 2005 and prior, two holes
will need to be drilled and secure mounting
brackets with two hex bolts and flange lock nuts
from hardware pack Group A1. See Figure 5.Clevis
pin will NOT be used on 05 models and prior.
