Before beginning installation, place the tractor on a firm and level surface,
set the parking brake, place the PTO in the disengaged (OFF) position, stop
the engine/motor, and remove the key to prevent unintended starting.
Do not transport the tractor on a trailer or in the bed of a truck with the
sun shade installed.
Do not operate tractor with sun shade installed in headwinds in excess of
15 mph.
NOTE: References to left, right, front and rear of the tractor are from the operator's position,
unless otherwise stated.
Tools Required
1/2" Box Wrench
1/2" Socket Wrench
3/8" Socket or Wrench (if needed)
Install Sun Shade Stop
IMPORTANT! Do NOT operate tractor with sun shade installed without sun shade stop
in place. Sun shade stop also prevents sun shade from contacting the engine should the
support brackets happen to break.
1.
Align lower sun shade stop (Item #10) holes with the two holes on the
interior side of tractor's engine surround tube and secure with two plastic
rivets (Item #6). See 1 in
Figure 1.
2.
Working from back to front,
hook upper sun shade stop
(Item #9) to tractor's upper
tube. See 2 in Figure 1.
3.
Align oval slot in upper
sun shade stop with single
opening in lower sun
shade stop and secure with
remaining plastic rivet
(Item #6). See 3 in Figure 1.

Install Crossbar
IMPORTANT! Tap-tight screws (Item #4) should be factory-installed into the crossbar
receiver tubes. Verify tap-tight screws are installed prior to installing the crossbar to tractor
frame. If tap-tight screws are not pre-installed, use 3/8" socket or wrench to install in
bottom openings of crossbar receiver tubes as shown in inset of Figure 2.
1.
Rest crossbar
on tractor's
upper tube and
slide towards
front of tractor
until vertical
plates fit
securely to
interior of
upper tube.
See Figure 2.
2.
On the right
side of tractor,
align one
mounting
plate (Item #8)
with crossbar
and exterior
of upper tube
as shown in
Figure 3.
3.
Working from
the outside-in,
thread 4 hex
head screws
(Item #3)
through the
openings in the mounting plate and vertical plate of the crossbar and secure
with 4 hex flange lock nuts (Item #5). See inset of Figure 3.
NOTE: Hand tighten hex flange lock nuts only at this point to allow the crossbar to
be aligned prior to final tightening.
4.
Repeat Steps 2 and 3 with the remaining mounting plate (Item #8) on the
left side of the tractor.
5.
Check alignment of crossbar and then tighten nuts until secure.
NOTE: Crossbar will "self-seat" when nuts are tightened. Be sure inner brackets are
flush with upper tube prior to final tightening.
