Receiving Faxes

This chapter describes the different ways to receive faxes. It also explains how to set the
receive mode and to cancel the documents the machine is receiving.

Setting the Receive Mode

Follow this procedure to set the receive mode:

Press [FAX] ➞ [Receive Mode].

Press [ ] or [ ] to select the receive mode.
You can select from the following:
- <FAX ONLY MODE> to automatically receive faxes only. Voice calls will be
disconnected. (See "Receiving Faxes Automatically: FAX ONLY MODE," on p. 5-2.)
- <MANUAL MODE> for the connected telephone to ring for fax and voice calls. Fax
calls must be answered manually. (See "Receiving Faxes Manually: MANUAL
MODE," on p. 5-3.)
- <ANS. MACHINE MODE> to receive faxes automatically and route voice calls to an
answering machine connected to the machine. (See "Receiving When an Answering
Machine Is Connected: ANS. MACHINE MODE," on p. 5-3.)
- <DRPD> to distinguish between fax and voice calls by using Distinctive Ring Pattern
Detection. (See "Receiving with a DRPD (Distinctive Ring Pattern Detection) Service:
DRPD," on p. 5-4.)
