Sending Fax from Computer
Follow this procedure to send a fax from your
computer.
Make sure that the fax driver is installed. To check if
the driver is installed, see the MF Driver Installation
Guide. For details about PC faxing features, see
"Fax, " in the e-Manual and Online Help.

Start the print command.
Open the document you want to
fax from the application, click
[File] → [Print].
The procedure for displaying the [Print] dialog box may
differ depending on the application you are using.

Select the fax.
Select your fax icon from [Select
Printer], then click [Print] or [OK].
If you want to adjust the fax

properties:
Click [Preferences] or [Properties]
and adjust the settings.

Specify the recipient.
Specify the name and fax
number in [Sending Settings],
then click [Add to Destination
List].
If you want to send a fax with a
●
cover sheet:
Click the [Cover Sheet] tab and set
the format for the cover sheet
attachment.

Send the document.
Click [OK] in the Fax Sending
Settings screen.

Receiving Faxes
Follow this procedure to receive faxes. For details
about receiving faxes, see "Fax, " in the e-Manual.

Select the setting menu.
Press
[Menu].

Select the receive mode menu.
Press

to select <4. TX/RX SETTINGS>,
then press [OK].
Press
or
to select <3. FAX SETTINGS>, then
press [OK].
Press
or
to select <1. RX MODE>, then press
[OK].

Select the receive mode.
Press
or
to select the receive mode, then
press [OK].
<FaxOnly>: Answers all calls as faxes.
<FaxTel>: Switches between fax and voice calls automatically if an external
telephone is connected to the machine.
<AnsMode>: Receives faxes automatically and records voice messages.
<Manual>: Does not answer any calls. You have to manually receive faxes.
For details on these settings, see "Fax, " in the e-Manual.

The displayed receive mode may differ depending on
the country where you are using the machine.

For <FaxTel> or <Manual>, make sure an external
telephone is connected to the machine.

For <AnsMode>, make sure an answering machine is
connected to the machine.

Exit the setting menu.
Press
[Stop/Reset] to return to the standby mode.
If you want to cancel receiving a fax:

Press
[Stop/Reset] to cancel a job.
The <CANCEL?> message appears. Press
<YES>. The job is canceled, and the display returns to the
standby mode.
If the <TONER LOW/PREPARE NEW TONER> message
●
appears:
The toner cartridge is almost empty. Replace the toner
cartridge or continue printing by setting <4. CONT.
PRINTING> to <KEEP PRINTING>. For details on the error
message, see "Replacing the Toner Cartridge, " on p. 20.
