Lubrication
WARNING: Before Jubricating, repairing,
or inspecting, disengage aHcontrols and
stop engine. Wait until aH moving parts have
come to a complete stop.
Gear Shaft
Thegear (hex)shaft shouldbe lubricatedat leastoncea seasonor
after every25 hoursofoperation,
1, Removethe lowerframecover by removingthetwo screwswhich
secureit,
2, Applya lightcoatingof an all-weathermulti-purpose greaseto the
hexshaft, See Figure3,
iMPORTANT: A voidoil spillageon rubberfrictionwheeland aluminum
driveplate,
Wheels
At leastonce a season,removebothwheels,Cleanand coat the axles
with a multipurposeautomotive greasebeforereinstallingwheels,
Chute Directional
Contro!
Oncea season,the ioysfickshouldbe lubricatedwith petroleum ielly,
linseedoil, mineral o il, paraffinwax or 3-ira1oil
Auger Shaft
At leastonce a season,removethe shearpinson augershaft, Spray
lubricantinsideshaft, aroundthe spacers,Alsolubricatethe flange
bearingsfoundat eitherend of the shaft, See Figure4,
Gear Case
Theauger gear casehas beenfilled with greaseand sealedat the
factory,If disassembled for anyreason,lubricatewith two ouncesof
newgrease(PartNumber737-0168),
NOTE: Donot overfillthe gear case,Damageto the sealscould result,
Be surethe vent plug is free of greasein orderto relievepressure,
Shave
P_ate and
Skid
Shoes
Theshave plateand skid shoes on the bottomof the snowthrowerare
subiectto wear,They shouldbe checkedperiodicallyand replaced
whennecessary,
Toremoveskid shoes:
1, Removethe four carriagebolts and hexflange nutswhich secure
themto thesnow thrower,
2, Reassemble newskid shoeswith the fourcarriagebolts (two on
eachside)and hexflangenuts,Referto Figure5,
Toremoveshave plate:
1, Removethe carriageboltsand hexnuts whichattach it to the snow
throwerhousing,
2, Reassemble newshaveplate, makingsureheadsof carriagebolts
are to the insideof housing,Tightensecurely,
