Selects the initial setting for audio tracks [Dolby D] / [MPEG]
[Dolby D]: The priority is given to Dolby Digital.
[MPEG]: The priority is given to MPEG.
Dolby Digital is the method of coding digital signals developed by the Dolby
Laboratories. Apart from stereo (2ch) audio, these signals can also be multi-
channel audio.
MPEG is an audio compression method that compresses audio to the smaller
size without any considerable loss of audio quality.
For Digital TV
Selects the initial setting for audio tracks [Dolby D] / [HE-AAC]
[Dolby D]: The priority is given to Dolby Digital.
[HE-AAC]: The priority is given to HE-AAC.
Dolby Digital is the method of coding digital signals developed by the Dolby
Laboratories. Apart from stereo (2ch) audio, these signals can be multi-channel
audio.
HE-AAC is a perceptual coding method used to compress digital audio for
efficient storage and transmission.
For Digital TV
SPDIF: A standard audio transfer file format
Selects the initial setting for digital audio output signal from DIGITAL AUDIO OUT
and HDMI2 (ARC function) terminals [Auto] / [PCM]
[Auto]: Dolby Digital is output as Dolby Digital Bitstream. HE-AAC and MPEG are
output as PCM.
[PCM]: Digital output signal is fixed to PCM.
For Digital TV or video contents of Media Player / Network services (p. 60)
ARC (Audio Return Channel): A function of digital audio output using HDMI
cable
Adjusts the audio level of PCM output from DIGITAL AUDIO OUT and HDMI2
(ARC function) terminals as the initial setting
[-12] / [-10] / [-8] / [-6] / [-4] / [-2] / [0] (dB)
Normally, PCM sound is larger comparing with the other types of audio track.
For Digital TV
Selects to fit the input signal [Digital] / [Analogue] (p. 77)
[Digital]: When sound is carried via the HDMI cable connection
[Analogue]: When sound is not carried via the HDMI-DVI adaptor cable
connection
For HDMI input
Narration settings for visually impaired users [Off] / [Auto]
Set to [Auto] to activate the narration sound track when available on the
broadcast.
The availability of audio description sound track is indicated by [AD] in the
information banner (p. 20).
For Digital TV
Adjusts the volume for Audio Description
For Digital TV
Set to [On] to activate the description sound track from TV speakers [Off] / [On]
For Digital TV
Set to [On] to activate the description sound track from headphones [Off] / [On]
For Digital TV
Narration settings for visually impaired users [Off] / [Auto]
Set to [Auto] to activate the narration sound track when available on the
broadcast.
The availability of audio description sound track is indicated by [AD] in the
information banner (p. 20).
For Digital TV
Press the OK button to reset the current Sound Mode, [Balance], [Headphone
Volume] and [Surround] to the default settings
