Each band has a distinct tone for easy identification. PASSPORT iQ offers two radar alert tone settings:
Classic—This is the factory setting for your PASSPORT iQ. It uses the standard ESCORT radar
alert tones:
•
X‐band = beep tone
•
K‐band = raspy brap tone
•
Ka‐band = double brap tone
•
Ku‐band = beep tone (same as X‐band)
•
Pop = solid brap tone
•
Laser = solid brap tone
Note: Since Pop and laser signals are a possible threat no matter how weak, PASSPORT
iQ will provide a solid audio alert for these signals (Classic mode only).
Mild—This setting offers softer, simpler alert tones, which are less obtrusive to the driving
experience:
•
X‐band, K‐band, Ka‐band, Ku‐band, and Pop = Doorbell chime
•
Laser = Same as Classic mode (solid brap tone)
To set the style of your alert tones, touch Alert Tones on the Detector Settings screen. Touch Classic or
Mild, then touch any button at the bottom of the screen to exit and save your changes.
Activating/deactivating the laser shifters (optional feature)
Our optional SHIFTER ZR4™ laser‐shifting system is the most advanced defense against targeting laser
guns. It includes three (two front, one rear) highly sensitive laser transceivers that detect laser signals
and transmit back a pulsed signal to "shift" or confuse the targeting laser gun.
To avoid undue attention sometimes caused by laser guns providing "jamming" codes to the officer, the
SHIFTER ZR4 offers a Receive Only mode. In this mode, simply touch the On‐Screen Radar/Laser Alert
Area or press the SmartCord mute button to manually shut off the laser transceivers once you have
corrected your speed. The shifters remain in Receive Only mode for approximately 60 seconds, giving
you time to pass the speed trap. Once this time has expired, the shifters return to active mode.
To turn this feature on or off, or to switch to Receive Only mode, touch Laser Shifters on the Detector
Settings screen. Touch the mode to select it, then touch any button at the bottom of the screen to exit
and save your changes.
Restoring detector settings
To restore PASSPORT iQ's detector to its original factory settings, touch Restore... on the Detector
Settings screen, then touch Yes.
