Software Updates
PASSPORT iQ's firmware, or operating software, can easily be updated using our exclusive detector
software tools found on our website. Subscription updates to map software and the Defender Database
are also available online.
In order to have access to these updates, you must register PASSPORT iQ at www.EscortRadar.com.
Once registered, you will receive e‐mail notifications that updates are available for your database or
firmware.
PASSPORT iQ will need to be powered up to use the software tools. If you have a laptop computer, you
can take it out to the vehicle to download the updates via PASSPORT iQ's USB data port.

An X‐band motion sensor or intrusion alarm is located within range of
your route. See "Locking out false alerts" for details on how to lock out
this alert.
Make sure the windshield wipers do not block PASSPORT iQ's radar
antenna and that the laser lens is not behind tinted areas.
Determine if your vehicle has an Instaclear®, ElectriClear®, or solar
reflective windshield, which may deflect radar or laser signals.
VASCAR (Visual Average Speed Computer and Recorder), a stopwatch
method of speed detection, may be in use.
Officer may not have radar or laser unit turned on.
Detector is in AutoMute mode. See "Activating/deactivating the
detector AutoMute feature" for details.
Static or other external interference may cause the unit to function
abnormally. To recover normal status, reset PASSPORT iQ. First,
disconnect it from external power. Press the reset button on the
bottom of the device. Reconnect PASSPORT iQ to the external power
source and slide the power switch to the right. If problems persist, turn
off the power and contact Customer Service.
