Activating/deactivating the detector voice
PASSPORT iQ is set to communicate all radar/laser alerts and instructions using a voice announcement in
addition to alert tones. If you prefer to turn the voice announcements off, only tones will be used for
alerts. To turn the detector voice on or off, touch Voice On/Off on the Detector Settings screen. Touch
the mode to select it, then touch any button at the bottom of the screen to exit and save your changes.
Activating/deactivating camera and speed‐trap database
PASSPORT iQ's Defender Database stores thousands of red‐light and fixed‐position speed cameras
throughout North America. The factory setting is for all markers in the database to be reported as you
approach them. It is recommended that you use PASSPORT iQ in this mode.
To modify which markers are reported, touch Cameras, ... on the Detector Settings screen. Touch the
checkboxes next to the various markers to select/deselect them for reporting. Touch any button at the
bottom of the screen to exit and save your changes.
Activating/deactivating the GPS Radar/Laser Detector Filter (TrueLock)
PASSPORT iQ is equipped with a TrueLock GPS Radar/Laser Detector Filter to lock out and store in its
memory false alerts. For details on how to use this feature, see "Locking out false alerts."
To turn the TrueLock feature on or off, you must activate or deactivate the TrueLock GPS Radar/Laser
Detector Filter. To do so, touch Detector Filter on the Detector Settings screen. Touch the mode to
select it, then touch any button at the bottom of the screen to exit and save your changes.
Clearing marked locations
At some point, you may want to clear all of the data in your detector database. This includes all marked
locations. To do so, touch Clear... on the Detector Settings screen, then touch Yes or No.
Activating/deactivating the illegal‐state alert
In some states, the use of a radar detector is illegal. PASSPORT iQ is equipped to alert you when you
enter one of these states, so that you can turn your detector off.
To turn the illegal‐state alert on or off, touch Illegal States on the Detector Settings screen. Touch the
mode to select it, then touch any button at the bottom of the screen to exit and save your changes.
Activating/deactivating the detector AutoMute feature
PASSPORT iQ comes equipped with our patented AutoMute feature. After your detector alerts you to a
radar encounter at the volume you have selected, the AutoMute feature will automatically reduce the
alert volume to a lower level. This keeps you informed without the annoyance of a continuous full‐
volume alert. If you prefer, you can turn the AutoMute feature off.
To turn AutoMute on or off, touch AutoMute on the Detector Settings screen. Touch the mode to select
it, then touch any button at the bottom of the screen to exit and save your changes.
Setting your alert tones
When you encounter radar, a distinct audible alert will sound and occur faster as the signal gets
stronger. When the signal is very strong, the audible alerts will blend into a solid tone. This allows you to
judge the distance from the signal source without taking your eyes from the road.
