FRONT VIEW
• BACKLIGHT BUTTON
Press this button while recording your subject and
the lens opening will automatically compensate for
high contrast lighting conditions.
• TALLY LIGHT
The red tally light alerts those being recorded that
recording is in
progress.
• FADE BUTTON
When this button is pressed
,
the picture in the
viewfinder and on the tape will fade out. When the
button is released, the picture will automatically
fade
in.
• ZOOM LEVER
Use this lever to zoom in and out on your subject.
• MACRO BUTTON (ON ZOOM LEVER)
Used to unlock the Zoom Lever so it moves into
the far left Macro position to get close-up
images.
• LENS FOCUS RING
Rotate this ring to focus the picture manually.
• LENS HOOD
Shields camera lens and accepts lens
cap.
Remove this hood to attach optic filters.
• DISTANCE DETECTION WINDOW
This window is used to detect subject-to-camera
distance for Auto Focus.
• FOCUS SWITCH (WITH PUSH-TO-FOCUS
BUTTON)
Use the "AUTO" position for constant auto
focus.
In the "MANUAL" position the focus remains fixed
until you manually adjust the Focus Ring
,
or use
the Push-To-Focus Button.
• DISPLAY BUTTON
When ON, titles can be displayed and recorded
.
The page number is displayed in the upper right
corner.
While recording the page number indication
will
disappear.
Press this button to obtain the
DISPLAY mode. To release from the DISPLAY
mode,
press this button again.
• COLOR BUTTON
Press this button to select one of 8 colors
(White- Yellow- Cyan- Green- Magenta-
Red - Blue - Black) for the title when it is
displayed.
• PAGE UP/DOWN BUTTONS
Press this button to select the/,pages either up or
down when the titles are
displayed.
Pages without
titles will be skipped
automatically.
• S-VHS INDICATOR
The S-VHS INDICATOR will light up:
1) During S-VHS tape
playback.
2) To indicate the S-VHS Selector Switch is "ON
",
when the power comes on.
3) To indicate a S-VHS Standard recording is being
made with S-VHS tape, while the S-VHS
Selector Switch is "ON".
• S-VHS SELECTOR SWITCH
Normally set to "ON".
Set to "OFF" for conventional VHS recording on
S-VHS tape.

• COLOR CONTROL
This control lets you adjust the intensity of the
colors in the
EVF.
• TINT CONTROL
This control lets you adjust for the most natural
fleshtones in the EVF.
• BRIGHT CONTROL
This control lets you adjust the brightness of the
picture.
• BUll T-IN SPEAKER
To monitor sound during playback or record place
your ear up to the
speaker.
Check the volume level
and adjust to a comfortable level.
• BUll T-IN SPEAKER VOLUME CONTROL
To increase or decrease the level of sound from
the speaker. This control will not affect the audio
level recorded on the
tape.
• ELECTRONIC VIEWFINDER (EVF)
• TITLE KEYBOARD
To compose and insert titles onto a recording use
this keyboard as described on pages
25-28.
• EVF CONNECTOR
For connecting the Electronic
Viewfinder.
• HIGH SPEED SHUTTER SWITCH
Used for a clear image replay of high speed motion
in Still or Slow mode.
• WHITE BALANCE SWITCH
The White Balance Switch in "AUTO" will
automatically maintain the optimum color balance
in either the indoor or outdoor range of lighting
conditions
.
• SELF TIMER SWITCH
Selects a time delay before recording or selects a
time lapse recording
.
See page 21 for
details.
• RECORD REVIEW BUTTON
Press this button to review the last few seconds of
your recording.
• RESET BUTTON
Resets the Tape or Lap Time
Counter.
• COUNTER DISPLAY/MEMORY/LAP TIME (D/M/L)
BUTTON
Used to display the battery charge
status,
Tape
Counter,
Lap Time Counter and clear these
displays on the
EVF.
• SET BUTTON
Used to set the date or time in clock
mode.
• SELECT BUTTON
Used to select the date or time in clock
mode.
• DATE/TIME BUTTON
Used to select the date/time display or date
display.
