LOSSARY OF
ERMS
This glossary defines terms and concepts used in this manual. For
readers who are new to scanning and character recognition
concepts, this glossary may be useful not only as a reference, but
also as a primer on optical character recognition technology.
Some definitions provided here contain terms in bold letters.
This means that these terms are also defined elsewhere in the
glossary.
A
Adobe Photoshop Import Plug-in—Software provided by the
scanner manufacturer to drive a particular scanner. TextBridge
Pro works with Photoshop Import Plug-ins as installed according
to scanner manufacturer's instructions.
AppleScript—Apple Computer's system-software-level scripting
language for the Macintosh. With AppleScript, you can run
TextBridge Pro from scripts, without using the keyboard or
mouse.
Apple events—In AppleScript, the requests for action upon
objects. Some examples are StartJob, ContinueJob, and StopJob.
auto-orientation—In TextBridge Pro, a capability to correct for
the rotation of the page image before recognition begins. For
example, suppose you were scanning a document with mixed
pages (for example, most pages are portrait, while some
landscape pages with large tables are present). TextBridge Pro
could perform auto-orientation on each page before beginning
recognition.
