Using Paintbrushes and Erasers
If you only need to lighten the area under the tree, you can do that by using the
paintbrushes or erasers. If you are trying to slightly adjust a specific section of a photo,
that is known as "nudging.".
Smearing an effect.
To lighten part of an image:

If needed, drag a photo from the Transporter.

Choose Image menu > Effects, and choose Color and Tone.

Click the Brush icon to display the brush tools.

Adjust the Brightness slider and the opacity slider.

Select a paintbrush to apply the effect (or the Eraser to remove part of it), depending
on the size of the area you want to change.

If needed, you can nudge (or smear) the effect with Hand tool.
Making small adjustments usually produces more realistic
results than large changes. Try adjusting the opacity after
you have made an adjustment to hue, saturation, or contrast.
