Route criteria
Various criteria can be selected for route calculation:
Fast: The route is optimised for the shortest possible travel time.
Suited to all situations.
Short: The route is optimised for the shortest possible travel distance.
Recommended for trips within cities.
Main roads: The route is calculated with the highest possible proportion of motorways.
No main roads: The route is calculated with the lowest possible proportion of motor-
ways. Recommended if you prefer to avoid routes via motorways.
The symbol for the selected route criterion is displayed in the lower status line.
You can also activate the following route options:
Minimize toll roads*: Avoids segments that are subject to tolls.
Minimize ferry usage*: Avoids ferries in the route calculation.
Minimize tunnel usage*: Avoids tunnels in the route calculation.
Dynamic route: Activates/deactivates the dynamic route planning.
You can find the settings for the dynamic route planning under "Dynamic route":
see below.
Store the modified settings with "Return".
Press the ESC button or the 4 button to quit the menu without making a change.
* Availability of these functions depends on the map data used. If route planning is not
possible without the selected exceptions, toll roads, ferries and tunnels are included in
route planning.
Dynamic route
You can set the following parameters for the dynamic route planning:
Re-routing level: Use this setting to specify whether the navigation system should
plan a detour in the event of traffic obstructions or not. Five levels are available.
The lowest level (1) means that the direct route should go through the stationary
traffic depending on the conditions and the anticipated delay. If the highest level is
selected, an alternative route should be planned in most cases.
Level 3 is a standard setting for dynamic route planning. It is the factory setting
(default).
Traffic horizon: This setting determines the radius in which the navigation system
should take traffic obstructions into account when planning your route.
Entire delay: Use this value to indicate the anticipated delay time due to a traffic
obstruction at or above which the navigation system should suggest that a new
route be planned.
The anticipated delay is calculated on the basis of the data received from the TMC
station and may deviate from the actual situation.
Automatic mode: When this function is activated, the dynamic route planning auto-
matically guides you around traffic jams. There is no further query.
Store the modified settings with "Return".
Press the ESC button or the 4 button to quit the menu without making a change.
