After a long period of inactivity of the vehicle some
precautions are necessary to avoid any problem.
Further, it is important to carry out the necessary re-
pairs and a general check up before the period of in-
activity, since you could forget to carry them out later.
Proceed as follows:
Empty the fuel tank and the carburettor, see p. 72
(DRAINING THE FUEL TANK).
Put back the tank plug.
Extract the spark plug and pour a teaspoon (5-10
cm
) of two-stroke engine oil into the cylinder.

Move the ignition switch to position "

ute the oil evenly on the cylinder surfaces.
Put back the spark plug.
Remove the battery, see p. 61 (BATTERY).
Wash and dry the vehicle, see p. 73 (CLEANING).
Polish the painted surfaces with wax.
Inflate the tyres, see p. 30 (TYRES).
By means of a suitable support, position the vehi-
cle so that both tyres are raised from the ground.

Place the vehicle in an unheated, not-humid room,
away from sunlight, with minimum temperature
variations.
Cover the vehicle avoiding the use of plastic or
waterproof materials.
Uncover and clean the vehicle, see p. 73 (CLEAN-
ING).
Check the electrolyte level in the battery and in-
stall it, see p. 61 (BATTERY).
Make sure that the fuel drain screw is thoroughly
screwed (breather pipe closing index), see p. 72
(DRAINING THE FUEL TANK).
Refuel, see p. 25 (FUEL).
Carry out the preliminary checking operations, see
p. 33 (PRELIMINARY CHECKING OPERA-
TIONS).

Have a test ride at moderate speed in a
low-traffic area.
