Speakers
Sound comes from one channel or
unbalanced left and right volume.
• Place the speakers as symmetrically as
possible.
• Check that the speaker are connected
securely and correctly.
• The source being played back is
monaural.
• Adjust the level of each speaker
(page 51).
The sound comes from the center
speaker only.
• Depending on the disc, the sound may
come from the center speaker only.
There is no sound from the
subwoofer.
• Set the subwoofer level to the
appropriate level.
• No sound is produced from the
subwoofer when you play back a DVD
VIDEO that does not have subwoofer
output recorded.
• Check that the subwoofer is connected
securely and correctly.
• Make sure that "SUBWOOFER" is set
to "YES" (page 50).
• Make sure you have turned on the
subwoofer by pressing SUBWOOFER
ON/OFF on the unit.
• Press MUTING on the unit if
"MUTING" appears in the display.

There is no sound from the center/
surround speaker.
• Set the center/surround speaker level to
the appropriate level.
• The software being played back has
limited sound effects. Check the volume
with the test tone (page 51).
• Check that the center/surround speakers
are connected securely and correctly.
• Make sure that "SURROUND" is set to
"SIDE" or "BEHIND" (page 50).
• Make sure that "CENTER" is set to
"YES" (page 50).
• Press MUTING on the unit if
"MUTING" appears in the display.
Disc Player
The disc tray does not open and
"LOCKED" appears in the display.
• Consult your nearest Sony dealer or
local authorized Sony service facility.
The disc tray does not close.
• Load the disc correctly.
• Always close the disc tray by pressing
OPEN/CLOSE Z on the unit. Do not
forcibly push the disc tray to close it as
this may cause a malfunction.
The disc does not eject.
• You cannot eject the disc during USB
transferring or tape recording. Press x
to cancel the transferring/recording,
then press OPEN/CLOSE Z to eject the
disc.
• Consult your nearest Sony dealer.
Playback does not start.
• Open the disc tray and check whether a
disc is loaded.
• Wipe the disc clean (page 98).
• Reload the disc.
• Load the disc that this system can play
back (page 6).
• Load the disc on the disc tray with the
label side facing up.
