About This Manual
This manual describes how to set-up and start to use the iU -200A/201A universal program ­
mer and the Intel ROM programming software (i
S) to store programs and data into pro ­
grammable read-only memory ( ROM) devices. It is for engineers and designers who are
developing firmware for ROM-, ROM-, E ROM-, or E 2 ROM-based systems.
The following describes the general contents of each chapter.
Chapter 1
Describes support hardware requirements and how to set up the universal
programmer.
Chapter 2
Describes how to install and initialize the i
S on an IBM C XT or C AT.
Chapter 3
Describes the power-up cycle, self diagnostics, and how to install a
ROM
device.
Chapter 4
