Test Procedures

WIRE DRIVE ASSEMBLY AND CONTROL BOX COVER REMOVAL AND
REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE
Service and repair should be performed by only Lincoln Electric factory trained personnel. Unauthorized
repairs performed on this equipment may result in danger to the technician or machine operator and will
invalidate your factory warranty. For your safety and to avoid electrical shock, please observe all safety
notes and precautions detailed throughout this manual. If for any reason you do not understand the test
procedures or are unable to perform the test/repairs safely, contact the Lincoln Electric Service Department
for electrical troubleshooting assistance before you proceed. Call 1-888-935-3877.
TEST DESCRIPTION
This procedure will aid the technician in gaining access to the internal components of the machine for
testing and repair purposes.
MATERIALS NEEDED
5/16" Nutdriver
3/8" Nutdriver
Phillips Screwdriver
3/4" Wrench
Pliers
7/16" Nutdriver
Wiring Diagram
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the input power to the LN-25x wire feeder.
2. Using a 5/16" nutdriver, remove the four screws securing the control box cover to the machine. See
Figures F.1. The control box cover can now be removed and set aside.
3. Using a 5/16" nutdriver, remove the four screws from the wire drive panel. See Figure F.1.
4. Using a 5/16" and a 3/8" nutdriver, remove the nut and screw securing the front of the wire drive
panel. See Figure F.2.
5. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screw from the front of the wire drive panel. See Figure
F.2.
6. Using a 3/4" wrench, remove the bolt, washer and lock washer securing the heavy copper lead to
the brass feed plate. See Figure F.2. See Wiring Diagram.
7. Using pliers, remove the gas hose from the brass gun bushing. See Figure F.2.
8. Using a 7/16" nutdriver, remove the bolt, lock washer, flat washer and large washer securing the
handle. See Figure F.2.
9. Carefully remove the entire wire drive assembly from the case.
