Meanings of symbols that may be on the brush‐
cutter, cutting attachment, battery and the
charger:
This symbols indicates that the length of
the shaft is adjustable.
This symbols indicates that the control han‐
dle can be rotated 90°.
This symbol shows how far the mowing line
has to be inserted.
This symbol shows in which direction the
mowing line has to be inserted.
This symbol shows the maximum speed of
the cutting attachment.
Guaranteed sound power level in

the sound emissions of products.
The information next to the symbol indi‐
cates the energy content of the battery
according to the cell manufacturer's specifi‐
cation. The energy content available in
operation is lower.

against rain and dampness.

4.1.2 Deflector for mowing heads
Meanings of warning signs and labels on the
deflector for mowing heads:
Use this deflector for mowing heads.
Do not use this deflector for brush kni‐
ves.
4.2 Intended Use
The STIHL FSA 30.0 grass trimmer/lawn edge
trimmer (brushcutter) is designed for mowing
grass.
Never use the brushcutter in the rain.
The STIHL AS battery feeds the brushcutter with
power.
WARNING
■ There is a risk that batteries and chargers that
are not explicitly approved by STIHL for the
brushcutter can cause fire or explosion. Per‐
sons may be seriously or fatally injured, and
property may be damaged.
► Use the brushcutter with a STIHL AK bat‐
tery.
► Recharge the STIHL AS bat‐
tery with a STIHL AL 1
charger.
