The HR-S10EG/EK employs an automatic backspace
editing mechanism to produce clean assembled recordings.
When the tape is stopped in the Pause mode during re-
cording, it is rewound (backspaced) automatically for
about 1 second of programme time. When the Pause mode
is released for recording, the backspaced section is played
back while the control signals are being read and record-
ing starts automatically when the previous and subsequent
recordings are synchronized. As long as the starting and
stopping of the tape is controlled by the camera's start/
stop switch, clean edits can be obtained.
Recording pause mode lock facility
If you wish to stop recording longer than about 5 minutes
to prepare for the next shot, turn the power off in the
Record Pause mode so that the Stop mode will not be
entered automatically and thereby the automatic editing
function will not be cancelled.
The special recording pause mode lock facility keeps-the
tape loaded around the tape transport mechanism while
power is off. When power is reapplied, recording will start
directly from the Pause mode, allowing the automatic
editing mechanism to function as it should.
Note: Allow for about 10 seconds (warm-up time of the
camera) before you start actual shooting after
being in the Record Pause mode with power off.

Automatic quick review function
Each time you stop the tape in the Pause mode, the tape
is automatically back-spaced for assemble editing, as fully
described above. The automatic quick review function
enables the reverse playback picture to be viewed during
this backspacing period of about 1 second on the camera's
viewfinder screen. Therefore, when you stop the tape with
the camera's start/stop switch, you can always check the
last second of your recording automatically.
Monitoring the playback on the camera's viewfinder
If a video camera equipped with an electronic viewfinder
is used, the recorded material can be checked on the spot.
For this purpose, first rewind the tape and press the
WIEDERG., button. The playback picture will be seen on
the camera's viewfinder.
