Dado Cutting
Instructions for operating the saw with dado sets
are contained in the booklet furnished with these
accessories.
ALWAYS USE AN APPROPRIATE BOSCH TABLE IN-
SERT 12 LISTED UNDER "Attachments and Acces-
sories." (See page 59).
Installing a Dado Set
To reduce the risk of injury, al-
ways disconnect plug from
power source before changing blades.
To reduce the risk of injury, al-
ways use the Bosch Dado
Blade Table Insert No. TS1014. Never make dado
cuts without this insert. Never set dado cutters to
any bevel angle other than the vertical 0° angle.
Follow all warnings and instructions shown here
and those that accompany your dado set. Failure to
comply with these warnings may result in serious
bodily injuries.
To reduce the risk of injury, do
not use dado sets larger than
8" (203.2 mm) in diameter. The saw is not de-
signed to accept larger sized dados.
A dado set is an accessory system used to make
non-through grooves or lap cuts on work pieces.
These tools are commonly used in furniture and
cabinet building. After work pieces have been prop-

erly dado cut, they can be tightly joined together.
This table saw can accommodate dado cutting up
to 13/16" (20.6 mm) wide in a single pass.
Using Stacked Dado Sets
(Fig. 87, Fig. 88)
To reduce the risk of injury or
property damage, read and
follow all Operation/Safety Instructions included
with the dado set before use.
To reduce the risk of injury,
never use a single dado blade
for normal saw thru-cutting. Never use chippers
without both outside cutters. Read and follow all
Operation/Safety Instructions included with the
dado set.
To reduce the risk of injury,
never pass your hands over
the cutting dado blades. Dado cuts are non-
through (blind) cuts. Many times the cutters can-
not be seen during cutting. (See "Non-Through Cut-
ting" on page 53 for instructions on non-through
sawing.)
To reduce the risk of injury,
never make freehand cuts. The
work piece must be held against the saw's Rip
Fence or Miter Gauge as it is being fed. Whenever
possible, use the Push Stick and push blocks for
cutting. (See "Using the Push Stick, Push Block,
and Auxiliary Fence" on page 45.) Always use
feather boards, attached to the Table or Rip Fence.
(See "Non-Through Cutting" on page 53.) When
crosscutting, firmly hold the workpiece against the
Miter Gauge. (See "Crosscutting" on page 50).
NOTE: These instructions apply when using most
standard stacked dado sets. Do not use a dado
set if the manufacturer instructions differ from the
ones provided below.
1. Disconnect plug from power source.
2. Raise the saw Blade 31 to maximum height.
3. Remove the Barrier Guard Assembly 26 and
Anti-Kickback Device 27. (See "Attaching the
Smart Guard System" on page 18.)
4. Remove the standard Table Insert 12.
5. Lower and lock the Riving Knife 25 in its lowest
position.
6. Remove the Arbor Nut 52, the Outer Washer 53,
and the saw Blade 31 from the Arbor Shaft 51.
Leave the Inner Washer 54 on the Arbor Shaft
51.
