Set Clearing of Printed Documents
If
you
wish,
you
can
set your fax
machine to clear its memory
of any
documents
which
the Fax Retrieve System
sends on
to
you.
Before
you set the
machine
regarding
this feature, consider
the two
sides
of the issue:
Saving
memory
-
Of course, setting your
machine
to
clear its memory of
documents
which the
Fax
Retrieve System has passed
on
to
you will
free up
memory
for other
documents
which you
may
receive
later.
This
is
impor-
tant
if
you
think
you
might receive many pages'
worth of
documents,
before you can
return
to your machine and
tum
off Fax
Retrieve.
However ...
When they're gone, they're gone -
If
you think your fax
machine
can
spare
the
memory,
you·d probably do well
not
to
set
the
machine to clear
printed
documents:
once
they
'
re
erased,
they
cannot
be
recovered. And, if
the
remote
fax
machine
from which you're
calling
suffers some
sort
of
problem while
printing the
document, even
though it finishes the
fax com-
munication
itself
satisfactorily, you
'
II
then
be unable to
call your machine
back and
try
another
retrieval.
To set your
machine regarding
this feature:
1. Press
-t/Program, 0,
3, Mode/Enter.
Fax Fwrd
& Erase
:
Off
Program/Enter
2. To change the setting, press
f -
or
-t/Program.
Once it's as you wish
,
press
Mode/Enter.
Print Documents in
Memory
What
if
someone at your fax
machine needs to
print the documents your
machine
's
Fax Retrieve System
has
stored
in
memory? That's where the
next
Fax
Retrieve System setting
comes
into play.
At any
time,
one can manually command the fax
machine (from
the Control
Panel) to
print
all
documents
which
the
Fax Retrieve System
is
savi
ng.
Just
press
~/Program,
0, 4, Mode/Enter.
Your fax
machine
will
print
the
documents, yet
they
still will
be in memory
for calling
up through
Fax Retrieve.
Note: Of course, if you have turned on the "Fax Frwd & Erase" function
(see
48
previous discussion,
"Set
Clearing of Printed
Documents"),
there will be
no documents stored in memory except those not yet retrieved; the "Fax
Frwd &
Erase"
function will erase each document after it is
retrieved
.
Operating Instructions
Erase Document in Memory
If
you wish
to erase documents
stored
in
memory by
the Fax Retrieve
System,
here is
the
procedure
(but be sure you
really
want
to
do
it:
once erased,
documents
cannot
be
recovered): press
~/Program,
0,
5,
Mode/Enter.
How to Use the Fax Retrieve System
Here
are
the
details of using your Muratec
fax
machine
's
Fax Retrieve System.
(We reprint these
instructions
on page
55,
but
in
smaller text, so you
can cut
them
out and take them with you.
)
Note:
Before
leaving your
fax
machine,
make

call your fax
machine. (You'll need to
hear
the ringing.)
2. If
your
machine rings
more
than twice
,

and
try
again later -
no
docu-

,
proceed
to
step 3.

numeric
keypad

But
...
If you 've
mistakenly

you'll hear three short beeps.
You
have two more tries
coming;
in
each
case
,
do
not
press#
before
the
code this time
,
but
do press#
following
the code.
If
you
can't
enter
the
right
code
in three
tries,
your
fax
machine
will
hang
up
and
you
'll have
to redial it.
4.

on some
machines,

on
the
rem
ote
fax
machine
(if
you're using the
handset,
hang

up).
Your
machine will transmit
the stored
documents,
then
hang up
automatically.
Note:
If using a fax modem, such
as
with a notebook computer, perform
a
polling
function
(for
an explanation of polling, see page 50) as prescribed
in
your
fax software's instructions. Set the modem to:
(a.)
Dial your fax machine's phone number followed by a pause
followed by "# (code number]#
"
followed by another pause.
(b.)
Do polling.
