Brand-name HD oil of the API classification SF, SG or SH;

CD or CE amendments are permissible; or brand-name HD
oil of the CCMC classification G4 or G5; amendment PD2 is

The viscosity class depends on outside temperatures.
Temperatures above or below the limits quoted for the individ-
ual SAE classifications are permitted for brief periods only.
"Special Oils" are approved individually by BMW AG and avail-
able from your authorized BMW motorcycle retailer.
All engine oils supplied by BMW are subject to regular BMW
quality assurance checks.
BMW does not approve the use of any upper-cylinder lubricants
or similar oil additives.
