To play just one disc
Press the DISC DIRECT PLAY button (1 to 3) for your desired
disc.
On the remote
control, press DISC
DIRECT,
then press a
numbered button (1 to 3) to select a disc.
The selected disc is played back once, then playback stops.
You can switch to All Disc Playback if you press the same DISC
DIRECT PLAY button during playback.
*You cannot switch from Single Disc Playback to All Disc
Playback if the current disc is a DVD, or a VCD with the PBC
function.
«Some DVDs or VCDs may automatically display the menu
screen after first loading the disc. See "Using the Software
Specific Menu", page 18.
*For DVDs, the DISC DIRECT PLAY button may not operate if
the Disc Resume setting is set to "ON". In this case, set it to
"OFF" (see "Disc Resume", page 48).
STOPPING AND PAUSING
To stop playback
Press Ml.
Playback stops. The unit remembers the point at which playback
stopped.
To resume playback from the point where it stopped
Press <>.
"RESUME" appears in the TV display and playback starts where
it last stopped (Resume function).
To clear the point to be resumed
Press li again during stop.
"RESUME OFF" appears in the TV display. The resume memory
is cleared, and playback starts at the beginning of the disc when
<4
is pressed.
*DVD playback is resumed with the subtitle and audio language
setting at the time it was stopped, regardless of possible later
changes in the Disc Languages setup menu.
«Under the default setting, the point to be resumed is also cleared
when the disc tray is opened, the current disc is switched, the
power is turned off, or the function is switched.
«Set up can be changed so that the resume memory is retained
even after the conditions described above. (See "Disc Resume",
page 48).
*The resume function is not available for VCD playback with the
PBC function turned on. To turn off PBC, see "Playing
a VCD
without Using PlayBack Control", page 18 and "PBC", page 48.
To pause playback
Press Il.
To resume playback, press <>.
SWITCHING THE CURRENT
DISC
On the main unit:
Press the DISC DIRECT PLAY button (1 to 3) for your desired
disc.
On the remote control:
Press DISC DIRECT, then press a numbered button (1 to 3) to
select a disc.
Press the disc number within 3 seconds after pressing DISC
DIRECT.
Playback switches to the selected disc.
Press & OPEN/CLOSE.
The disc tray slides out. The power turns on if pressed when
power is off.
To rotate the tray
Press DISC CHANGE.
To replace discs during play
While a disc is playing, other discs can be replaced without
interrupting current playback.
1 Press DISC CHANGE.
2 Replace the disc(s).
3 Press
& OPEN/CLOSE to close the disc compartment.
