Perform a system tune-up.
Run Windows Update.
Scan for and remove viruses.
Scan for and remove spyware and adware.
Empty the Recycle Bin.
Delete temporary Internet files.
Back up user files.
Create a restore point.
Defragment the hard drive.
Run Scan Disk.
Clean the exterior of the computer.
Close programs that are not being used.
Prevent programs from loading at startup.
Remove rear cover and clean fan blades and vents with compressed air.
