USE A FEATHERBOARD (FIG. aa)
1. Lower the saw blade (1).
2. Position the rip fence (2) to the
desired position and lock the
rip fence.
3. Place the workpiece (3) against the
fence and over the saw blade area.
4. Adjust the featherboard (4) to resist
the workpiece forward of the blade.
5. Attached the C-clamps (5) to secure
the featherboard to the edge of
the table.

AUXILIARY FENCE (FIG. bb)
Making the base:
● Start with a piece of 3/8 in. plywood
at least 5-1/2 in. wide or wider and
21 in. long or longer.
● Cut the piece to shape and size
shown.
Making the side:
● Start with a piece of 3/4 in.
hardwood at least 1-3/4 in. wide or
wider and 21 in. long or longer.
● Cut the piece to shape and size
shown.
Putting it together:
● Fasten the pieces together with glue
and woodscrews.
Make sure the screw heads do
not stick out from the bottom of
the base; they must be flush or
recessed. The bottom must be flat
and smooth enough to rest on the
saw table without rocking.

PUSH BLOCK
Use for ripping operation when the
workpiece is too narrow to use a push
stick. Always use a push block for rip
widths less than 2 inches.
