Possible cause:
The DWA battery no longer has any charging
capacity. Operation of the DWA is no longer
guaranteed when the vehicle battery is dis-
connected.
Contact a specialist workshop, preferably
an authorized BMW Motorrad retailer.
DWA failure
Anti-theft alarm system fail-
ure. Have checked by a spe-
cialist workshop.
Possible cause:
The DWA control unit has diagnosed a com-
munication fault.
Contact a specialist workshop, preferably
an authorized BMW Motorrad retailer.
DWA can no longer be activated or deacti-
vated.
False alarm possible.
Engine temperature high
lights up yellow.
Engine too hot! Continue driv-
ing at low revs to cool engine.
ATTENTION
Riding with overheated engine
Engine damage
Be sure to observe the measures listed
below.
Possible cause:
The temperature sensor has detected a high
temperature in the engine.
Ride in the partial load range if possible to
cool the engine.
The available engine power is reduced.
Should the engine oil temperature fre-
quently be too high, have the fault recti-
fied as quickly as possible by an autho-
rized workshop, preferably an authorized
BMW Motorrad Retailer.
Engine overheated
lights up red.
Engine overheating! Come to
a safe stop, then stop the en-
gine.
ATTENTION
Riding with overheated engine
Engine damage
Be sure to observe the measures listed
below.
Possible cause:
Engine is overheated.
Carefully come to a stop and turn off the
engine until it has cooled down.
The available engine power is reduced.
To provide protection against overheating
while at a standstill, the engine is turned
off automatically after approx. 5 minutes.
The engine can be started again after au-
tomatic shut-off. The engine is turned off
under the following conditions:
The side stand is folded out.
Brake is not engaged.
The throttle grip is in neutral.
If the engine overheats more frequently,
have the fault corrected as soon as possi-
ble by a specialist workshop, preferably an
authorized BMW Motorrad retailer.
Drive malfunction
Engine! Have checked by a spe-
cialist workshop.
Possible cause:
The engine control unit has diagnosed a
fault that affects pollutant emission and/or
performance.
Have the malfunction corrected at a spe-
cialist workshop, preferably an authorized
BMW Motorrad retailer.
You may continue driving if the pollutant
emission is above the setpoint values.
