Purging the Hydraulic System
WARNING: This adjustment
requires operating the engine.
Use extreme care to avoid
contact with moving parts and hot
surfaces. Ensure rear of unit is
well supported and secure before
starting engine.
1. Face unit against a wall and jack up unit
so both drive wheels are off the ground.
2. Disengage parking brake and put
transaxle bypass levers in neutral
position (see To Push The Unit on
page 19).
3. Start engine and slowly move the
steering levers (Item 4) forward and
reverse five or six times.
4. Stop engine and put transaxle bypass
levers in drive position.
5. Repeat step 3.
6. Stop engine, check the oil level and add
oil as needed.
7. Repeat steps 2 – 6 until transaxles
operate smoothly in forward and reverse
at normal speeds without excessive
noise.

CARBON CANISTER FILTER
(If Equipped) (Figure 13)

1. Carbon Canister
2. Carbon Canister Filter
1. Check the carbon canister filter for
debris accumulation every time the unit
is filled with fuel. Remove any buildup.
2. Clean or replace the carbon canister
filter whenever the engine air filter is
cleaned or replaced.
MOWER BLADES
Remove
CAUTION: Use sturdy gloves or
padding to protect hands when
working with mower blades.
Rotation of one blade will rotate
the other blades.
1. Turn engine off. Remove ignition key.
Disconnect spark plug wires.
2. Remove bolts, spring washers, blades
and washers from spindle assemblies.
Replace
1. Install washers, blades, spring washers
and bolts on spindle assemblies.
2. Torque bolts to 115 – 125 lbf-ft (185.1 –
201.2 N•m).
3. Reconnect spark plug wires.
