Issue
Possible causes
Cold air is entering through doors and
windows
Poor heating
The outdoor temperature is extremely low Use a secondary heating source

unit is dirty
Air filter is dirty
Air inlet or outlet of either unit is blocked
Poor cooling
Doors and windows are open

Excessive heat generated by sunlight
Low refrigerant due to leak or long-term
use
Too many sources of heat in the room
(people, electronics, etc.)
Too much or too little refrigerant in the
system
The unit starts
There is air, non-compressible gas
and stops
or foreign material in the refrigeration
frequently
system.
Malfunctioning compressor
When to call for service
If any of the following conditions occur, turn off your unit immediately and contact your installer or
Rinnai.
There is a burning smell coming from the unit
The unit emits loud or abnormal sounds
A circuit breaker or fuse has blown
Water leaks from the safety drain
Parts are ejected out of the unit
Foreign objects fall into the unit
If the unit has been exposed to water or flooding
Solution
Make sure all doors and windows are
closed during use
Service person required
Lower the temperature setting
Service person required to clean the heat
exchanger
Service person is required.
Turn the unit off, remove the obstruction
and turn it back on
Make sure doors and windows are closed
while the unit is on
Close windows and curtains during
periods of high heat or bright sunshine

Reduce amount of heat sources

recharge the system with refrigerant.
