Heat-sink-and-fan assembly

Prerequisite
Before you start, read Generic Safety and Compliance Notices, and print the following instructions.
The heat sink might be very hot. Before you open the computer cover, turn off the computer and wait several
minutes until the computer is cool.
For access, do the following:
1. Remove these parts in order, if any:
• "Left side cover" on page 54
• "Secondary storage drive cage" on page 59
• "Secondary storage drive" on page 60
• "Storage drive in the front-access storage enclosure" on page 62
• "Front-access storage enclosure" on page 66
2. Disconnect the heat-sink-and-fan assembly cable from the CPU fan connector on the system board.
Removal procedure of the 65-watt heat-sink-and-fan assembly
Follow the following sequence to loosen the four screws that secure the heat-sink-and-fan assembly to the
system board. Then, lift the heat-sink-and-fan assembly off the system board.
Torque
5.0 ± 0.5 in-lb
