Prerequisite
Before you start, read Generic Safety and Compliance Notices, and print the following instructions.
The heat sink and CPU might be very hot. Before you open the computer cover, turn off the computer and
wait several minutes until the computer is cool.
Notes:
• Your CPU sockets and socket covers might look slightly different from the illustrations in this topic.
• Do not touch the pins on the CPU socket or the gold contacts on the CPU.
For access, do the following:
1. Remove these parts in order, if any:
• "Left side cover" on page 54
• "Side fan with bracket" on page 55
• "Primary storage drive" on page 56
• "Secondary storage drive cage" on page 59
• "Secondary storage drive" on page 60
