CHECK SAFETY INTERLOCK SYSTEM
The PTO should not operate unless the operator is
sitting in the operator's seat.
Engine must not start unless PTO is disengaged and
direction control pedal is in neutral.
Do not operate the unit if this safety provision does not
function. Contact your Gravely Dealer for repair.
CHECK FOR LOOSE FASTENERS
Be certain that all hardware is tightened to the proper
torque. Especially the blades, guards and safety
shields.
CHECK PARKING BRAKE INTERLOCK
Any attempt to move the directional control pedal with
the parking brake engaged should shut off the engine.
CHECK PARKING BRAKE
Repair the parking brake if unit rolls when brake is
engaged. Contact your Gravely Dealer.
CHECK TIRES
• Maintain proper air pressure in all tires. See
Specifications.
• Keep tires free of gasoline, oil or pesticide
chemicals which can harm rubber.
• Avoid stumps, stones, deep ruts, sharp objects
and other hazards that may cause tire damage.
NOTE: To seal tire punctures and prevent flat tires due
to slow leaks, tire sealant may be purchased from your
Dealer. Tire sealant also prevents tire dry rot and
corrosion.
CHECK AND CLEAN BATTERY
See Service and Adjustments more information.
• Keep battery and terminals clean.
• Keep battery bolts tight.
• Keep small vent holes open.
Recharge at 6-10 amperes for 1 hour.
WARNING: ELECTRICAL SHOCK may result
in injury and/or damage to the unit.
DO NOT allow objects to come in contact with
both terminals at the same time.
WARNING: REVERSE CONNECTIONS may
result in sparks which can cause serious
injury. ALWAYS connect positive (+) lead of
charger to positive (+) terminal, and negative
(-) lead to negative (-) terminal.
ALWAYS connect positive (+) cable FIRST,
and negative(-) cable second.
WARNING: EXPLOSIVE GASES from
battery can cause death or serious injury.
ALWAYS keep open flames, sparks, or
smoking materials away from batteries.
POISONOUS BATTERY FLUID contains
sulfuric acid and its contact with skin, eyes, or
clothing can cause severe chemical burns.
ALWAYS wear safety glasses and protective
gear near battery.
DO NOT TIP any battery beyond a 30° angle
in any direction.
ALWAYS keep batteries out of reach of
children.
CLEAN TRANSAXLE
• Keep trans axles free from buildup of dirt and
chaff which can restrict cooling.
LUBRICATION
• Apply Stens Hi-Temp Grease or equivalent to the
lube fittings on idler pivots.
• Grease the pillow block (1), idler pivot arm (2),
parking brake arm (3), directional control pedal
(4), spindle caster steer (5), and handlebar (6)
every 25 hours.
• Oil all pivot points and pin connections daily.
