How to set the DNS filter

A DNS filter helps you to prevent access to certain domains. Although a domain is
blocked with the DNS filter, IP-based communication is still available. To block specific
IP communication, use the IP filter (see section 6.8.7).
Note 1: To setup a DNS filter, [Group Type] must be set to other than [Bridge].
Note 2: To prevent unnecessary data communication, a new WAN group has all do-
mains automatically filtered at creation. Adjust the filter settings as required.
1. Referring to section 6.1, login as an Administrator.
2. Click [Admin], [Network Settings], [WAN], then [Groups].
3. Click the [Settings] button for the group whose DNS filter you want to setup.
Put a [ ] in the box to prohibit NBT and Microsoft DS.
The default setting is "checked".
Put a [ ] in the box to refuse demand of IDENT.
The default setting is "checked".
Put a [ ] in the box to prohibit response to ping from WAN.
The default setting is "checked".
Put a [ ] in the box to prohibit request to DNS.
The default setting is "unchecked".
Put a [ ] in the box to prohibit Windows
The default setting is "checked".
Note 1: This item appears in gray when the [Prohibit DNS Re-
quest] setting is activated.
Note 2: Make sure that the setting of the DNS server of the PC
is the same IP address as the Communication Unit.
Note 3: Even if this item is set to valid, there is a possibility that
