Cable Specifications
In order to maintain compliance with the limits of a
Class B digital device, 3Com requires that you use quality
interface cables when connecting to this device. Changes
or modifications not expressly approved by 3Com could
void the user's authority to operate this equipment.
Examples of supported cable types are shown below:
Unshielded twisted-pair (100 ohm):
The 10BASE-T cable you use for establishing a connection
to the network should not be used for any other purpose.
It must be dedicated to the link between the NIC and
the network.
For complete cabling details, refer to the IEEE 802.3
specification, section 8.4, "Coaxial Cables and
Electrical Parameters."
For unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) connections:
Category 3 LAN and high-speed data cable, for
example, Anixter CM-00424BAG-3 or equivalent
Category 4 extended distance LAN cable, for
example, Anixter CM-00424BAG-4 or equivalent
For thin coax connections:
RG58 A/U or C/U (50 ohm ± 4)
For thick coax connections:
RG59 (50 ohm ± 2)
