NauticaRS 5.016R Release Notes for Nautica 200

Basic Rate Interface (BRI)

Switch Type Auto-sense

2-6
Support for Mixed Leased and Switched ISDN B channels on the
same BRI has been added for ISDN Type 4 Services.
New values for the mode parameter within the BRI have been
added. On a Nautica 200 the choice is now bri, leased64k-ppp,
leased128k-ppp.
The leased-64k-ppp setting provides the combination of one
leased and one switched B channel. The first B channel is leased,
the second switched. A WAN01 device appears to allow
configuration of the leased connection.
The leased128k-ppp setting provides two WAN devices, WAN01
and WAN02. Each is a 64k pipe mapped to the respective B
channel. By using Multilink PPP (MP), a 128K connection can be
achieved.
Support for Auto-Detection of Switch Type and SPID
(Plug'n'Play ISDN) has been implemented for the North
American market. This feature attempts to automatically
configure the switch type and SPID, given the area code in which
the router has been installed.
From BCC, edit the BRI device configuration, set the
area-code to your local area code, configure your local
numbers, set the "switch-type" to auto-sense, and the ISDN
TA will attempt auto-sensing.
From the One-Step configuration tool (part of Nautica
Wizard), the user should press the "US ISDN >" button to
enter the US ISDN Switch Information menu, select
Autosense from the pull-down list of switch types, then enter
the local area code and local numbers. Press OK and the
ISDN TA will attempt auto-sensing.
