Cleaning the optical parts of LDS 6, Optics Housing CD 6

Before the optics housings are removed make sure that:
• No purging is active.
• No hazardous or hot gases can escape from the process.
• Appropriate protection against hot surfaces on and around the optics housing is used.
To clean the wedge windows proceed as follows:
1. Release the lock ring closest to the process – use an appropriate tool – and pull the optics
housing out.
2. Clean the window on the wedge window module. If the optical lens needs cleaning the
second lock ring needs to be released. Extra care should be taken since the lens is anti-
reflection coated and sensitive to scratches.
3. Remove all dust particles using pressurized air or flushing water.
4. Clean the optical surface with a soft cloth with water or iso-propanol. Soap water also works
fine in many cases. Start at the center and work with circular movements towards the rim.
5. When the optics housing is re-installed make sure that the guide pin fits the hole on the
purging flange. Screw on the lock ring and tighten it gently with the tool.
If this operation is performed properly, it will not affect the alignment of the optics housing.
