Checks
Check each of the seven lamps including
"Saving" lamp for energy saving, Fridge
"Coldest/Normal/Cold" and Upper Select
"Coldest/Normal/Cold" to see if they are
blinking or off.
Did you place food or ice other than ice made by
the automatic ice maker in the Ice Compartment?
Did you press
for 5 seconds or more?
Is the door opened?
Is the door opened due to food stuck in between?
Are you storing a large amount of vegetables
with high water content?
Is any food, etc. caught
between the upper case
and the lower case?
Is a plastic bottle and/or
food item in contact with
the handle of the upper
case?
Is any food, etc. caught
between the upper case
and the top of the
Selectable Compartment?

Possible Cause
Place a
mark on which
lamps are blinking and
contact a Hitachi customer
service center for repair.

If you record the information,
the problem will be communicated
accurately.
Food, etc. may be blocking the ice tray.
Empty the Ice Compartment and perform "Ice Maker Cleaning".
"Ice Maker Cleaning" is in progress.
"Ice Maker Cleaning" stops automatically after about 4 minutes and "On" indicator is activated.
Ice Maker Cleaning cannot be cancelled.
See "Ice Maker Cleaning".
Close the opened-door.
Remove the food stuck in between and close the door proper-
ly.
The refrigerator is in the demo mode. Please cancel the mode according to the
following procedures.
In the demo mode, the refrigerator does not perform the cooling operation.
Open the doors of the Refrigerator Compartment and the door of the Upper
Selectable Compartment.
After pressing any button to display the settings, Press and hold
seconds or more until the preset sound is heard.
All the indicator lamps are lit for a few seconds, the demo mode is cancelled and
the cooling operation resumed.
Close all of the doors.
Since the humidity in the Selectable Compartments is higher
than in other compartments, condensation may form on the case,
top, or surfaces of food depending on the amount and type of
vegetables. It does not indicate any fault. If you are concerned
about condensation, it is recommend to wrap the food in cello-
phane wrap. Also, if there is a large amount of condensation,
water may accumulate in the Selectable Compartment case.
Wipe off any accumulated water with a soft cloth.
Remove it if any.
Store the plastic bottle, food, etc. so that it doesn't come
into contact with the handle.
Remove it if any.
Also, do not forcibly close the door when food, etc. is in
contact with the top of the Selectable Compartment.
